Sparked Hearts Youth Ministry

The Sacred Heart Youth Group allows the youth to become a more integral part of the parish community, offers opportunities in community service to make giving back a significant part in teens’ lives, and gives the youth a voice to help them strengthen and grow in relationship with God. – Sacred Heart teens February 2010
Sparked Hearts meets every Sunday at 11:30 in the teen center in the basement of the parish center. We share a meal together followed by an activity and/or discussion. Other activities, such as trips and service projects, are announced as we go along. We hope to build community, learn about ourselves and our faith, and have fun together! Sparked Hearts is open to anyone in high school – all are welcome! Check us out on Twitter, Facebook, in the bulletin, on the parish bulletin board, or here!
Carol Nowatzke, Youth Minister

I am from Kansas City originally. I grew up in a suburb on the Kansas side called Prairie Village. I attended both Catholic elementary and high schools, where my passion for youth ministry began. In those years I attended Camp Kateri Tekakwitha, a Catholic camp owned by the Archdiocese of Kansas City in Kansas for six summers. This turned into four summers of staff membership, three years as a lead counselor and one as a ropes crew member. While not at camp, I attended Missouri State University and earned a B.A. in Religious Studies with a minor in piano performance. I have lived in Chicago since 2010 and am currently working on a Masters in Pastoral Studies at Loyola University-Chicago. In my spare time I enjoy singing, reading, listening to music, Netflix, Facebook, and the occasional pontifical document.
