SUNDAY MARCH 26th 5:30PM in the PARISH CENTER

(After the 4:30pm Mass)

Join us after the 4:30pm Mass this evening in the Parish Center to hear a presentation by Fr. Leon Santiago, the chaplain at the Lovell Federal Health Care Center/Great Lakes Naval Station.   Fr. Leon will share with us what his work entails at Great Lakes, and the ways in which he has witnessed the Holy Spirit at work through the course of his military career.

In order to provide everyone with some background information on the Great Lakes/Lovell Health Care Center, in the just the 2016 Fiscal Year alone, patient interactions included the following:

· 966,862 outpatient visits; (18,258 emergency room visits);

· 3,719 inpatient admissions (109,943 patient days of care); and

· 1,045,668 total pharmacy prescriptions.

Many veterans are looking for a job, or are in need of stable housing.  Some are ready to buy a home and need loan assistance.  Many Veterans returning from Iraq and Afghanistan face significant stressors upon their return, such as: mental health issues related to Post Traumatic Stress, anxiety, depression, and other conditions; Traumatic Brain Injury, physical injuries or disabilities, and general readjustment issues when transitioning back with their family, to college, and into other civilian contexts.   Some of our Veterans simply need spiritual guidance or someone to talk to within a safe and supportive setting.  Fr. Leon is one of those people who can offer these Veterans some spiritual help and healing, as well as a listening heart.

Join us for the 4:30pm Mass, at which Fr. Leon will concelebrate, followed by his presentation in the Parish Center on how he has witnessed the Holy Spirit at work at Great Lakes.  Mr. Jack Farley, parishioner, school dad and Iraqi War Veteran, will share a little of his own story and introduce Fr. Leon.

You’ll also learn about ways you might be able to help our veterans!

Join us!  Beverages, appetizers and desserts will be served.
