Father Paul Visits Sacred Heart

Msgr. Reynold Hillenbrand provided a place to live here at Sacred Heart for a series of Jesuits from India and Sri Lanka, while they did post graduate work at Loyola University.  One of them stayed four years, taught our kids to serve Mass, visitied the sick of our parish, said Mass for us every day, and served as a chaplain to the young ladies at Regina Dominican High.     He was a full time associate pastor and a full time grad student all at once. When he returned to Batticaloa in Sri Lanka with multiple Degrees, he ministered to those impacted by a civil war that had gone on for 25 years.  Children came home traumatized after forced service as soldiers.  So he established the Butterfly Peace Garden to help them return to normalcy.  He provided homes and schools for orphans.  He provided employment opportunities for widows.  His ministry was our very first outreach.  We began to support him before the Archdiocese suggested that every parish have another parish with whom to twin. Inner city matched  with suburban, Sacred Heart with Saint Ambrose, and now Saint Columbanus.
